I Love You to Pieces Picture Frame

I saw this craft on Pinterest also, I used the general idea and made it my own.

Supplies

19 Popsicle sticks (mine were small, so you may need fewer if you use bigger ones)
Glue Gun (works best, but you could try with crafter's glue)
Paint
Paintbrush
Puzzle Pieces
Photo of your child
Permanent Marker
Ribbon/Magnet or anything else you would like to use to display the frame

1. Paint all the Popsicle sticks front and back and let dry.

2. Glue 12 of the Popsicle sticks together (or enough to cover the photo with a little extra on each side of the photo)

3. Glue one Popsicle stick in the middle at the bottom.

4. Glue a Popsicle sick on each side above the bottom stick.

5. Glue four Popsicle sticks together creating a square.

6. Glue the square on top of the base of the frame.

7. Glue puzzle pieces all around the top and sides of the frame.

8. On the bottom write "I love you to pieces" in permanent marker.

9. Glue ribbon on the back for hanging.

10. Insert child's picture through the top of the frame.

Hand Print- Foot Print Flowers

We also did this craft at our play date today for the little ones. I saw this on Pinterest. The picture above is from that blog and is much better than my finished product. But I'm pretty pleased with what I got considering I was working with a four month old who got shots yesterday!

Supplies

Washable Paint
Paintbrush
White Construction Paper

1. We Painted the Little One's feet and hand and pressed them on the paper to make the hand and foot prints. I only got one of the Little One's hand prints, because she was pretty fussy at the time.

After the prints dried, I went back and painted a stem and grass and added a few more flowers to fill up the empty space. I am going to go back and write in the Little One's name and the date somewhere on the top.

Here is my (almost) finished product. The Big One refuses to get paint on her hands or feet, so I think I am going to try this with her, but by tracing her hands and feet and cutting them out of construction paper. We'll see how it turns out!

Coffee Filter Flower

Daycare Mom had this craft ready for us at our playdate today. It was fun and easy. She did some of the steps ahead of time, which was very smart thinking on her part as it made the craft flow much easier. When dealing with preschoolers you have to be abe to complete the craft before they get bored!

Supplies

Paint
Coffee Filter(s)
Green construction paper
White Paper for background
Bug/Bird/Frog Stickers
Newspaper/construction paper
Tape- painter's tape works best

Before we got there Daycare Mom had painted the white paper brown on the lower 1/3 and blue on the top. It was already dry and ready to go. She also cut out the stem and two leaves from the green construction paper. So when we got there we...

1. Taped the coffee filters to paper to allow the kids to paint the entire coffee filter without making a mess. Daycare Mom also taped the paper to the table so that it wouldn't slide around. She used the blue painter's tape so that it wouldn't tear the paper or the coffee filter. Another great idea-she was full of great ideas today. (Not that she isn't everyday!) LOL

2. The kids painted the coffee filters and we let them dry. To speed up the process Daycare Mom dried them with a blowdryer.

3. While waiting for the coffee filters to dry we glued the stem and leaves to the painted paper.

4. We then scrunched up the coffee filters a bit to make them less flat. The Big One painted two coffe filters, so I scrunched one up a little more than the first and glued it into the center of the first one. (you can see this in the finished product photo)

5. Once the coffee filters were on, the kids picked out different bug and bird stickers and placed them all around the flower.

6. On the finished product we wrote "Mommy helps me grow, just like flowers grow. Mother's Day 2012"

Remember I Love You Magnet

This was our take home craft this week at Story Time. It is very quick and easy and takes few supplies.

Supplies
Flesh Colored Card stock
Strip Magnet
Heart Sticker
Clothespin
Thin ribbon of any color about 10" long
Glue

1. Trace your child's hand, while signing "I love you", or you can just cut out a hand in that shape.

2. Place the heart sticker in the center of the hand

3. Tie the ribbon in a bow around the index finger

4. Glue the strip magnet on one side of the clothespin

5. Glue the hand on the opposite side of the clothespin leaving a bit of the bottom of the clothespin showing.

That's all! Pretty simple huh?
